This Indonesian language group class assumes no prior knowledge of the Indonesian language. This class will focus on speaking and listening, but will also include reading (and some writing) of Indonesian, which uses a Latin-based alphabet.
Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia) is the official language of Indonesia; it is a standardized dialect of Malay, an Austronesian (or Malayo-Polynesian) language, arguably the lingua franca of the Indonesian archipelago. The class provides an important foundation for further studies in the Indonesian language. Ages: 13+. The teacher is a native speaker of Indonesian with excellent English. Classes are kept small. We fill seats on a first-register basis.
